Government has done nothing for the music industry

Born Akwasi Poku and known in showbiz circles as Kwaisey Pee is undoubtedly one of Ghana’s finest highlife artistes whose names have traveled across borders as far as music is concerned.

He granted an interview on Atinka 104.7 FM on the Drive Talk hosted by DJ Candyman on Friday, 11th January 2019 .
As a veteran artiste, his views on the contribution of the government towards the music industry was sought by DJ Candyman .

Although, he initially refused to opine on the topic under discussion, he eventually and reluctantly said he wouldn’t say the government has been helpful and faithful to the music industry.

The “Mehia Odo” singer said,   “If we can’t boast of a spacious theatre which can accommodate more patrons, we have a long way to go as a country.”

He was quick to add that he thinks the problem probably has to do with the agenda of political parties in the country.
“Maybe they have their agenda before coming into power, and music might not be part of the agenda” the highlife crooner humbly stated.

He (Kwaisey Pee) told DJ Candyman that music is one of the great assets a country can thrive on if well packaged, and thus admonished the government to pay attention to it.

“They perhaps think music isn’t that necessary for the growth of the country, but listen, when, music is done well, it has a lot of benefits like attracting tourists into the country which helps the country holistically.

Kwaisey Pee who is currently promoting his new single “mabre” which featured the young songstress, Yaa Yaa promised Ghanaians an album in 2019.
