Ghanaians react to GETFund scholarship scandal

A section of the public have reacted to the Education Minister, NaCCA boss, Adwoa Safo and others being beneficiaries of GETFund scholarship.
The names of some ministers in the Akufo-Addo government and other government appointees popped up over the weekend as beneficiaries of the GETFund scholarship which was supposed to aid needy but brilliant students.
In a performance audit report of the Auditor-General on the administration of scholarships by GETFund, names including that of the Education Minister Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, Procurement Minister and Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo as well as the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Prince Hamidu Armah were revealed.
According to the report, Matthew Opoku-Prempeh to be studying National and International Security at Harvard University, taking about $12,800 for living expenses and $11,200 as tuition fees.
For her part, Sarah Adwoa Safo is also reported to be studying at the Harvard Kennedy School, also taking $12,800 as allowances and $17,004 for tuition fees.
Meanwhile, Dr. Armah who is also reported to be studying philosophy in Education at the University of Aberdeen, which comes with a benefit of £38,400 for living expense in addition to £33,000 for tuition fees.
