Ghanaian professionals capable of redesigning Accra – Ex-Ghana Institute of Architects boss

A former President at the Ghana Institute of architecture, Osei Kwame, says Ghana has professionals in the field of architecture who are capable of planning and redesigning the country.

This statement of the former President of the Ghana Institute of Architect, lies on the back on government’s decision to  engage a Singaporean master-planner to ‘redevelop Accra’. Dr. Liu Thai-Ker who is acclaimed as the master planner is the architect behind modern Singapore.

The city of Accra is to undergo a massive change which will reduce congestion and improve the landscape of the nation’s capital.

Senior Minister, Mr. Yaw Osafo Marfo who explained the work to be carried out by the architect, said the agreement will be in the best interest of the state. The remodeling of Accra is expected to solve the high traffic situation, environmental pollution, poor housing, communicable diseases, rural-urban migration among others.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, former President at the Ghana Institute of architecture, Osei Kwame, mentioned that although planning is paramount in the development of a nation, he believes there are institutions in the country which have capability to execute the plan.

” There are a whole lot of Ghanaians in the system who are capable of planning Accra and even do it better," he said.
