Ghanacard: Persons without digital address cannot register-NIA

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Mr. Francis Palmdeti , says persons without digital addresses cannot take part in the ongoing nationwide registration for the National Identity Card (Ghana card).

The National Digital and Property Addressing System, ‘ghanapostGPS,’ which was launched in 2017 allocates addresses within a defined space with the aid of the latest geocoding technology.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Mr. Francis Palm Deity mentioned that persons who will show up at the registration centers without their digital addresses  will not be allowed to  register.

He added that the public registration exercise, which has begun in the Greater Accra region is expected to last between two to three months after which the team will move to the Volta and Northern Regions.

He added that the exercise will then move to the Upper East and Upper West regions; Brong Ahafo Region will be next followed by Eastern and Ashanti Regions. The last regional public registration will be in the Central Region.

He urged the general public to download the ghanapostGPS and generate their digital addresses to ensure a smooth registration process.
