Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cynthia Mamle Cynthia Morrison says the Ministry will soon close down orphanages which are operating without proper documents in the country.

The Minister made this known when she conducted a surprise monitoring visit to orphanages in order to inspect their current situations.

The orphanages visited included: Rising Star Home, Potters Village, Rays of Hope Centre, and Orphan Aid Africa located in Dodowa and the Ayikuma Township.

The purpose of the visit was for the minister to get first-hand information on the welfare of children living at visited orphanages and also assess the conditions and services that were rendered to them.

Hon. Cynthia Morrison made a passionate pledge to inspect and monitor orphanages in order to ensure that children are better taken care of and enjoy their rights.

She added that orphanages that fail to meet the proper requirements will be closed down and sanctioned appropriately.
