Ga South MCE embarks on revenue mobilization drive to promote dev’t

The   Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga South in the Greater Accra Region, Joseph Nyarni, is embarking on a revenue mobilization drive to fund very important development projects in the area.

Speaking to Atinka News, the MCE explained that the revenue mobilization drive will also lead to accelerated growth.

He also said the Assembly will be embarking on an investment drive to create employment for the jobless youth in the area and called on investors to come to the area to explore investment opportunities.

He said the assembly has vast land which investors can acquire to embark on agricultural activities and other developmental projects.

As part of efforts to promote development in the area, the MCE visited Kokrobite,  a  popular town in the Bortianor Nglishie Amanfrom constituency, to inspect works on a six-unit classroom block which was started in October 2017. Over the years, pupils in the locality have been using an old structure as classrooms, affecting academic performance in the process.

Mr Nyarni gave the assurance that the school will be ready by the beginning of the third term.

In another development, the Ga-South Municipal Assembly on Monday signed a performance contract with the Regional Minister at the Regional Coordinating Council in Accra.

The contract is to ensure that the MMDAs work hard to bring development to the communities in which they have oversight responsibilities in order to improve the living standards of the people within their jurisdiction.

The Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey urged the MMDCEs and their respective jurisdictions to work hard to fulfill the overall goal of the respective MMDAs.

“Focus your attention on government flagship programmes such as Planting For Food and Jobs, One District One Factory, Planting for Export and Rural Development among others to open doors of opportunities and provide food for the people”.
