FDA Detains re-labeled Lucozade

The Food and drugs authority on Saturday 7th September 2019 detained a consignment of canned lucozade belonging to Andiana Royal Ventures at a warehouse in Hong Kong, near Lapaz in Accra.

The information on the relabeling got to the FDA through a journalist last Saturday, and immediately, the FDA dispatched officers who worked tirelessly over the weekend to ensure the definition of the consignment.

Meanwhile, two persons who were involved in the tampering of the date markings have been arrested and are assisting the police to investigate the matter.

The FDA has therefore advised the general public to critically examine any canned Lucozade they wish to patronize and ensure not to purchase any having batch numbers, SEP 19 l4A and SEP 19 L4B with an expiry date of September 2020.

“The FDA wishes to emphasize that the well-being of the general public is its priority  and therefore, its activities are designed  to provide continues assurance of safety of all foods, medicines, cosmetics, household chemical substances and medical devices,” it stated.

The FDA also advised the general public to contact them should they have any relevant information on every FDA related issues.
