Energy Commission inspect shops with uncertified refrigerating appliances

The Inspector in Charge of Energy Efficiency at the Energy Commission, Hubert Zan,  has said the Commission has developed a Certified Appliance App to identify location of stores that stock inefficient and uncertified refrigerating appliances to aid in effective monitoring.

The Energy Commission inspected some shops to check the compliance level of refrigerators and air conditioners as well as educate retailer shops and the general public on the certified appliance App as part of its programs of activities  to mark its  20th anniversary celebration.

Mr. Zan further explained, "the Energy Commission has introduced a Certified Appliance App to help consumers identify energy efficient refrigerators and air conditioners and also help the commission eliminate sub-standard refrigerating appliances that are smuggled into the country."

Mr. Hubert Zan added  that the "smartphone app has unique features that help the consumer to use the model number of the appliance to do a quick verification while at the shopping centre’’.
