Education Ministry’s GHS1M MIT training “unreasonable” – Ras Mubarak

Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak has described the justification by the Ministry of Education on its one million Ghana cedi Massachusetts Institute of Technology Programme  expenditure as not satisfactory.

The Minority is demanding an audit into what it claims to be frivolous expenses and a possible case of causing financial loss to the state by the Education Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh in a one million cedis Massachusetts Institute of Technology Program (MIT) held last year.

The group does not understand how such a whopping amount of money will be spent on such a programme with an extra 300,000 cedis on travel, boarding and lodging expenses.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, the Kumbungu MP Ras Mubarak explained that what the Ministry of Education did was just to blow the tax payers money.

According to him, although the idea for the training is laudable, the same heads could have received the same training at GIMPA here in Ghana.

“This is not the first time government officials are going on training and this will not be the last. But you don’t spend over GHS1M of our money for 13 people to go for training whereas they can get the same training in Ghana at a lower cost”, he fumed.

He added that the National Service Personnel and the youth in entrepreneurship need this training services than the 13 top officials sent to partake in the training.
