The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a nationwide exhibition of the voters register effective Today, Tuesday September 10, 2019.

The exercise which will last eight-days will get rid of ghost names ahead of the referendum on the participation of political parties in district level elections.

The exhibition will also allow about 17 million registered voters verify their details in the voters’ register.

Speaking at a Press conference, Dr Bossman Eric Asare, the Deputy Chairman of the EC explained that the exhibition will also get rid of unqualified people who got registered between 2012 and 2019.

“Basically, the exhibition exercise is to allow for prospective voters to verify if their details, such as names, sex and age, were properly captured during the registration exercise and make requests for amendments or insertions when necessary,” he said.

He noted that all the 30,702 polling centers across the country will be opened for registered voters to check their details across Ghana.

Dr Bossman Eric Asare seized the opportunity to plead with all stakeholders as well as members of the public to ensure that the exhibition process is a success.

“It is also allowed for one to verify the voter details of a relative, provided they bring along the voter ID of the said relation. It must be noted that no request for correction will be allowed in the absence of the owner of the ID card,” he added.
