Dr Anyah appointed Board Chair of Ho Teaching Hospital

The Executive Chairman of Holy Trinity Spa and Health Farm, Dr Felix Anyah has been appointed as the Board Chairman of the Ho Teaching Hospital.

His appointment was done together with that of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Board Chair.

Dr Anyah who is a Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital left the hospital in 2018 after his appointment was terminated.

However, the medical doctor has gained another employment in a government hospital.

His appointment becomes the first under the much-awaited amendment of Section 37 of Act 525 of the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospital act, 1996.

According to the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, who spoke at the commissioning of the Board of Directors for both Korle Bu and Ho Teaching Hospitals, under the 1996 Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospital Act 525, the membership of the Teaching Hospital Boards then consisted of about 80% of hospital management staff.

But for efficient corporate governance, the Board now consist of 10 professionals not of the hospital’s management with only the Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital as member forming a total composition of 11.

“It is in this light that section 37 of act 525, which defines the membership of Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals was amended by Parliament and assented to on 27th December 2019,” he added.

For his part, Dr Anyah pledged to develop the hospital to expected standards.
