The Speaker of the 8th Parliament, Alban Bagbin has cautioned members of Parliament to be mindful of the sanctions of the misconduct they demonstrated on the 7th January 2021 during the election of the speaker including the presence of armed soldiers in the chamber.
According to the speaker, the actions of the MPs were despicable and unbecoming of people of Honour.
Addressing the members of the House during the first meeting of the 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, Alban Bagbin said, “As speaker, I would like to plead that the spectacle to that historic day is not repeated under my watch.”
Alban Bagbin reiterated that his office is a neutral one and not a speaker for the NDC or the NPP, adding that he will discharge his duty according to the oath he swore.
Mr Alban Bagbin told the House that, he takes a strong exception to such conduct and behavior and urged the leadership to ensure necessary measures are taken to restore the lost dignity of the house.
