Domelevo’s response confirms he goofed – Gary Nimako

Gary Nimako Marfo, lawyer for Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko who has been implicated in the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) scholarship scandal, says the response from the Auditor General is an affirmation that the Audit Service erred in their GETFund audit report.
The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo, has responded to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Kennedy Osei Nyarko. He  asked the Member of Parliament to channel his grievance to the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and that his outfit is not responsible for the list of beneficiaries of the GETFund captured in its performance audit report.
“Every information or name that is contained in the performance audit report on GETFund came from GETFund, the audited entity,” he said.
This response from the Auditor General comes after the Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru and Deputy Agric Minister, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, asked the Auditor General to apologize and  expunge his name from  the list of beneficiaries in the GETFund Scholarship saga.
Gary Nimako Marfo, who is still peeved with the response still maintains that the Auditor General could have done a better job by verifying documents before publishing.
“His response clearly shows he did not do a good Job with respect to the GETFund scholarship audit report. He just published the report by GETFund without verification. He should have found out whether or not the said amounts indicated in the report were even disbursed for the purposes stated in the report,” he said.
Meanwhile, Richard Ofosu Acheampong, an Associate Director at Ikern & Associates, a Chartered account and audit Firm says the Auditor General did not err in his discharge of his duty and that it acted based on the information it received from GETFund.
