Dogboe to pursue International Affairs degree at UPenn

Ghana's WBO super bantamweight champion, Isaac 'Royal Storm' Dogboe is set to pursue a degree programme in International Affairs at the University of Pennsylvania to enrich his educational background.

Dogboe (20-0, 14 KOs), who is expected to return to the ring on December 8 on the Vasyl Lomachenkov-Jose Pedraza card at the Madison Square Gardens in New York, noted that he was ready to combine schooling with his career, having initially put his education on hold to concentrate on boxing.

When asked about his decision to pursue International Affairs, the 24-year-old hard-hitter explained that the course would enable him to relate well with the public as he seeks to grow his brand.

"Yes, I will be going back to school to do a degree programme in International Affairs to continue my education," Dogboe said on his arrival in the country from London last Monday to a rousing welcome.

"I chose this course because it would enable me to relate well with the public and grow my brand. As you know, I am a global brand and need to be a role model in how I relate with others," he added.

Touching on his long-term co-promotional deal with Top Rank, undefeated Dogboe explained that he was looking forward to making one of his title defences in Ghana as stipulated by the contract.

The Ghanaian returned home after destroying Japan's Hidenori Otake in the first round to ensure a first successful defence of his WBO strap on August 25 in Arizona.

Dogboe has had a perfect start to his career without any blemish, including three knockout victories over Cesar Juarez, Jessie Magdaleno and Hidenori Otake in January, April and August respectively.
