DCE promises to repair broken down borehole following Atinka TV’s exposé

The DCE of Awutu Senya West District, Steven Kwame Quaye says the assembly will soon repair a broken down borehole for the community and Pupils of Saint Francis Anglican Basic School in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region. 

The decision by the assembly follows a report by Atinka TV’s Abubakar Sarpong on the plight of the community on Friday.

Community Report, a thirty-minute documentary, which is aired on Sundays on Atinka tv, told the story of lack of potable drinking water at Awutu Bontrase in the Awutu Senya west district of the in the central region.

The situation had compelled the over 400 basic school children of the Saint Francis Anglican Basic School to drink from a dirty stagnant water located near the school.

A teacher at the school, Kwadwo Antwi, in an interview with Atinka TV’s Abubakar Sarpong recalled how three school children have fallen into the pits and died in their attempt to fetch water for drinking.

Following the report, the DCE for Awutu Senya West, Steven Kwame Quaye who contacted Atinka TV mentioned that he was in awe after watching the documentary last Sunday.

‘I was very disturbed to see the school children in the report on Atinka TV this morning. The broken down borehole shown in the report would be repaired immediately to mitigate the suffering of the community and the students’.
