Videos: Mad rush for gas in Accra following lockdown order

Scores of people in Accra stormed the various Liquefied Petroleum Gas stations to purchase the commodity after the president announced a lockdown following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
At midnight on 30th March, Ghana will become the latest country to go into a  lockdown to contain the pandemic.
This comes after the country recorded 137 confirmed cases of the virus and 2 recoveries.
Four of the coronavirus patients with underlying health conditions have passed on.
The President gave the order while addressing the nation on Friday night.
At the Dzorwulu Gas station,  people who were in long queues to purchase the commodity told Atinkaonline.com’s Vivian Adu Boatemaa that they heard fuel and gas stations would not be opened during the partial lockdown hence the rush.
Many of the  people who had come to purchase the commodity came along with not more than 3 LPG cylinders, this they hoped would   last for  months should government decide to review the lockdown.
Atinka News contacted the Vice Chairman for the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketing Companies Association of Ghana, Gabriel Kumi, to ask what the association makes of the panic buying.
Mr. Gabriel Kumi pleaded with the general public and asked them to stop the panic buying since fuel and gas stations will be opened during the lockdown.
According to him, the panic buying will give individual owners of gas stations the opportunity to hoard the fuel and later sell at unreasonable prices.
He assured consumers of LPG that the association has enough in stock  to serve persons throughout the lockdown.
