Covid-19: Free water extended to March 2021

President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the free water that seeks to support Ghanaians during the COVID-19 pandemic from now to March 2021.

The free water as enjoyed by Ghanaians from March 2020 originally ended on December 31st 2020.

But during his 21st update on the COVID-19 pandemic, President Akufo-Addo said, “Government will, thus, continue to pay the electricity bills for our nation’s 1 million active lifeline customers for the next three months, i.e. January, February and March.”

Additionally, he said all 1.5 million customers of the Ghana Water Company, whose consumption is not more than five cubic metres a month, will not pay any bills for the next three months, i.e. for the months of January, February and March.

“This relief will be reviewed at the end of March,” he added.

Meanwhile, he maintained that pubs, beaches and spots remains closed until further notice.

He urged all to continue to adhere to the safety protocols to protect ourselves from the virus.
