Covid-19: Asymptomatic cases impeding control of virus– Doctor

A medical doctor and Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Isaac Newman Arthur, has attributed the inability to control the deadly coronavirus to the increasing number of Asymptomatic cases.

This comment by the Medical Doctor follows the increasing number of covid-19 cases in Ghana.

Ghana’s current coronavirus cases is pegged at 1,924 with 352 deaths.

Addressing the general public in the 22nd Covid-19 update,  the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, directed the Inspector General of Police to reinforce the wearing of the nose masks at all places and in public transports.

The President stated that On 7th January, he swore to serve the well being of Ghanaians. And that it his duty to protect the lives of Ghanaians.

“On 7th January. I swore to serve the well being of Ghanaians. It is my duty to protect the lives of Ghanaians. I have directed the IGP to enforce mask wearing at all places and public transports. The Ghana Police Service will be  assisted by other security agencies. If the number of COVID-19 keeps rising I have no option than to impose the restrictions. It is better to be safe than to be sorry,” he added.

Speaking to host of Atinka FM’s morning show “AM Drive” Ekourba Gyasi, Medical Doctor and Clinical Psychologist, Dr Isaac Newman Arthur, explained that Ebola was way stronger than covid-19 but the issue of asymptomatic cases make the fight against the virus difficult.

According to him,   asymptomatic cases spread the virus faster because they do not show symptoms to affirm suspicions.

“ The control of the coronavirus has become very difficult due to the asymptomatic cases. It is not as if covid-19 is more dangerous than Ebola. Ebola was way stronger than covid but because normal people might carry the virus without knowing makes the case worse”, he added.
