Victor Stephen Kankam Nii Obo Schroeder, the landlord who allegedly murdered his tenant, Benjamin Okyere for refusing to vacate his rented room, has been remanded in custody by the Abeka District Court presided over by Her Worship, Mrs. Achaama Ofosu
The accused,who is a businessman and a rent agent is to appear before court on June 8, 2020.
The accused,38, has been charged with murder according to the charge sheet read by the prosecutor, Inspector Stephen Ahiale. There was no plea by the accused who had no legal representative.
Victor Stephen Nana Kankam, according to police shot Benjamin Okyere, who until his death was a musician.
The police subsequently rushed the victim to the Police Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
DSP George Asare, the district commander and his team who went to the crime scene said they saw spots of blood at the entrance of the deceased’s rented apartment.
The State Prosecutor told the court that, four spent shells were retrieved at the scene.
The police proceeded to the suspect Nii Kankam’s residence at Ofankor and arrested him.
They searched his room and retrieved two pump action guns loaded with seven and eight rounds of cartridges each.
The police also retrieved 32 live cartridges.
The suspect has been detained to assist the police in its investigations.
