Senior minister and former Minister of Education and Sports, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has added his voice to the fight against Corruption in Ghana Premier league saying, “Ghanaians are no more interested in the local league” because of corruption.

Speaking at the launch of the National Anti-Corruption week in Accra Monday, Senior Minister said, even though corruption has always been with Ghana football, it boomed after 2010.

“I’ve been Minister of Sports and for the time Ghana qualified to play the world cup. Corruption got deep after 2010 into football in this country. Corruption in the officiating of soccer matches in our premier division has had a negative impact on our football. Those who win the league here in Ghana cannot even go through the group knockout on the African continent”- he fired.

The Senior Minister further said, politicians are the only people the who come to mind anytime corruption is mentioned, but it cuts across every sector of the economy.
