Coronavirus: 2020 WASSCE suspended

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for 2020/2021 has been suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Originally, the 2020/2021 WASSCE was scheduled for 30th March, 2020 to June 12th June, 2020.
According to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the negative impact of the pandemic and the subsequent protocols put in place by governments of member countries to prevent the spread of the disease have serious implications for the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2020 as agreed by the National Offices.
In a statement, WAEC noted that the proposal from the Secretariat on the need to reschedule WASSCE (SC) 2020 was approved by the Chairman of Council.
“Consequently, the Registrar hereby directs that; the WASSCE (SC) 2020 Timetable be suspended until further notice; the conduct of WASSCE (SC) 2020 be put on hold until further notice;directives (1) and (2) will be reviewed when the health situation improves,” WAEC stated.
