CODEO commends EC over successful conduct of special voting

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for a successful conduct of the special voting exercise on Tuesday 1st December 2020.

Journalists, security officers as well as officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) took part in the special voting exercise across the country on Tuesday 1st December 2020.

109,557 registered persons were expected to vote in the Special Voting exercise.

Commenting on the Special Voting exercise on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with Eourba Gyasi, Project Leader for the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), Rhoda Afful explained that the special voting exercise was a success and that the EC deserves to be commended.

She noted that CODEO monitored the election across the country and it observed that the EC personnel conducted themselves in an orderly manner.

Pointing out issues with regard to the devices used for the conduct of the special voting exercise by the EC, Project Leader for CODEO, Rhoda Afful noted that little or no device malpractice was recorded during the special voter exercise in most of the polling stations.

“ Prior to the exercise, CODEO looked out for the application of laws by both officials of the EC as well as the electorate. We can say that generally, CODEO observed that that the special voting exercise was a success and we hope that we experience same on December 7th”, she added.

Atinka FM news team, who visited the various polling stations across the country, reported that the Covid-19 protocols were strictly adhered to at the polling stations.

Veronica buckets and hand sanitizers were stationed at vantage points to allow users of the various polling stations to wash their hands before casting their votes.
