Choice of fantasy Dome due to non-availability of spacious venues – Kofi Adams

Outgoing National Organiser, Kofi Adams, has attributed the National Democratic Party’s (NDC) choice of Fantasy Dome for its 9th National Delegates Congress to the non-availability of spacious venues prior to the event.

The election committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been criticized for poorly organizing the party’s 9th National Delegates Congress.

The venue for the Congress, Fantasy Dome of the Trade Fair Centre in LA, has been described as a bad choice since about 9000 delegates were expected to cast their ballot to elect new set of executives to run the party for the next four years.

The elections which have been described as the longest , started on Saturday afternoon and ended around 10 am on Sunday.

But speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, the Outgoing National Organiser, Kofi Adams, stated that the Fantasy Dome of the Trade Fair Centre in LA, was the only option available to the party with regard to the date they had set for their Congress.

He noted that the Accra Sports Stadium and the Independence Square were not available which explains why they had to do with the Fantasy Dome.

“This was the first time the about 9000 delegates were converging to elect new executives and as a matter of fact all bigger venues were not available, we considered all that. And as we all know the New Patriotic Party’s double track system meant that they couldn’t have opted for a school since schools are in session,” he added.

Kofi Adams also refuted claims that he masterminded the change of name of a candidate, an aspiring Deputy General Secretary in the just-ended NDC National Executive Elections, Kojo Adu-Asare.

He   said he could not  be blamed for the unfortunate incident since he was not the Director of Elections.

Kojo Adu-Asare has, however, threatened to sue the party. The threat comes as a result of his name which changed to Justice Yeboah on the ballot paper.
