CHASS condemns indiscipline at Tweneboa Kodua SHS, other schools

 
The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (Ghana) has condemned the acts, videos of  some students in Tweneboa Kodua SHS and other schools over their inability to take their WASSCE Science paper.
Final year students of the Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region on Monday threatened to boycott the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) after they accused teachers of being too strict during the supervision of their science paper.
In a viral video, some of these students accused the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of misleading them and providing them with past questions which were immaterial.
In some schools, students refused to take their meals and threatened to discontinue writing the exams.
Commenting on the issue on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi, General Secretary for the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools  (CHASS), Kwame Owusu Oduomi said the act is not palatable and that it needs to be condemned in all uncertain terms.
According to him, Ghana’s culture demands that respect and honor is given to whom it is due and that the comments these students made about the president was not the best.
On the issue of the past questions, Kwame Owusu Oduomi said the students did not treat themselves well by sticking strictly to the content of the past questions .
“ The WASSCE questions are not exclusive to lessons learnt or taken in the final year. This should tell you that questions will come from all levels and so there is the need to prepare towards that. Their actions should be condemned, he added.
Likewise, the Executive Director for Education policy think tank, Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare, says the conduct of some students in Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School, others indicates  breakdown of moral behavior in schools.
