He was imprisoned in the United States and has spent almost ten years behind bars.
According to a report sighted by Atinkaonline.com, some sources in Jamaica have confirmed that Banton's release from prison would be marked by the opening of an official BujuBanton.com website.
Reports indicate his then-wife, Nina Atalah allegedly abandoned him when he was jailed in 2009 for drug possession.
Meanwhile, Buju Banton was recently talked about when news of his ex-wife’s affairs with black stars skipper Asamoah Gyan popped up.
The musician and Nina Atalah had a son, Banton Jnr. Buju is looking forward to returning to his family and re-connecting with his fans as well as getting back into the recording studio.
The Grammy-award-winning star Buju Banton, ex-husband of Nina Banton, now Nina Atalah was sentenced to 10 years in jail in the US for his role in setting up a cocaine deal in 2009.
In February of 2010, he was convicted of conspiracy to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute it, along with a further drug trafficking offence and a gun charge. He was acquitted of a fourth charge for attempted cocaine possession.
It was Banton’s second trial – his first ended in September when the jury was unable to reach a verdict
