Blows over poor drainage system at Ofankor Market

Lack of proper drainage system at Ofankor Market and its environs in the Ga North Municipality is creating discomfort and misunderstanding among residents in the area.
The deplorable and dilapidated nature of the sewage system at Ofankor New Market is so bad that streams of fecal matter continue to run through residents compounds, posing very serious health hazards.
The situation has also become a fertile breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to a  high incidence of malaria in the area.
Madam Adelaide Nyarko, a landlady who has lived in the area for eight years lamented that sewage from other neighboring house floods the area which prepare the grounds for mosquitoes.
She complained that she had endured the menace for a long, blaming a neighbour who pumps sewage water to flood the community.
According to her, despite all her efforts to stop the menace, her efforts have proven futile, explaining that  nothing has happened after reporting the matter to the chiefs and the Ga North Municipal Assembly.
She is therefore calling on the assembly  to come to their plight with a view to finding a lasting solution to the problem.

Stephen Ofosu, a landlord who is alleged to have been pumping the sewage with a strong stench, posing  health threat in the neighborhood, also said he was ready to construct a drain in front of their houses, seeking for the consent of the neighbours.
“I told her to allow me construct a drain in front of our houses but she said she will not agree. I know the assembly might not be ready to do it now and I wanted to use my own money to do it  but she refused. I cannot do it without her consent so I am asking her to agree to this so that we can solve the issue peacefully,” he said.
Stephen ofosu also called on the assembly to come and help address the issue peacefully.
