Atinka FM's Ekourba Gyasi campaigns for "dualization" of major roads to curb "avoidable" accidents

Host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive, Ekuorba Gyasi Simpremu, is advocating for the dualization of all major roads in the country to reduce or possibly end road accidents.

His current campaign follows a gory accident at Kyekyewere on the Accra- Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region on Tuesday morning. 14 persons perished while scores sustained life-threatening injuries in the accident involving a cargo truck and two buses.

Sharing his thoughts on the gory accident on his show, AM Drive, Ekourba Gyasi called on politicians to stop politicizing the dualization of the roads which continues to take away lives of Ghanaians.

“The time has come for both NPP and NDC to put politics aside and take the lives of Ghanaians seriously by fulfilling promises of dualizing the two major roads connecting Accra to other African Countries by land.
“If care is not taken, these two major roads which record the highest road accidents in Ghana will continue to take the lives of the electorate and we will see who will vote for you to rule” he said.

In the just launched People’s Manifesto by the National Democratic Congress, the party promised to complete the Accra- Kumasi dual carriage highway whereas the Governing New Patriotic Party also made similar promises in their 2020 manifesto.

However, Mr Ekuorba Gyasi believes the promises are becoming too much and the time has come for that project to be executed to save lives.

He, however, cautioned drivers to be extra careful when plying these roads especially during night.
