Ranking member on Parliament’s select committee on Youth, Sports and culture, and member of Parliament for South Tongu, Kobena Mensah Woyome, has asked the Ghana Athletics Association and National Sports Authority to settle their differences following the recent public outbursts between the two.

The National Sports Authority issued a press release stating that the new executives of Ghana Athletics Association will not be recognized by their outfit.

According to the National Sports Authority, the Ghana Athletics Association’s elections were not  fair and transparent though the international mother body (IAAF) has accepted the election process and its new executives.

Speaking to Atinka FM’s Sports Journalist, Listowel Mensah in his chamber, Mr Woyome said “We have discussed this at the Committee level to call the two parties and settle the dispute if they failed to solve it themselves.”

“You know we are on recess, so it will be hard to convene any meeting now. But I can assure you that, we will monitor them and if they failed to settle their difference we will step-in,” he added.

Mr Woyome believes the ongoing impasse between the two bodies are politically motivated and took the opportunity to advise the NPP government to stay away from sports.
