Assign two deputies to Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture – David Dontoh appeals

Veteran Ghanaian Actor, David Dontoh has called on the incoming Minister of Tourism,  Arts and Culture to make Arts the priority of the sector, in order to make it triumph.

To prioritise the Arts unit in the sector, he also recommended that the President appoints two deputies and allow one to concentrate on the tourism side while the other focuses more on the arts unit.

Speaking on the Friday edition of Atinka TV’s Morning show, Ghana Nie, David Dontoh explained that the sector was enormous and therefore if whoever is made to head it does not know the nitty-gritty of the sector, it will not flourish.

“If we want to add value to tourism then we should have a critical look at the arts because it is known as the sphere-head of culture,” he said

Meanwhile, he acknowledged the fact that Former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Ms Catherine Afeku performed enough, but stated that she might have demonstrated some capabilities of doing more at where she has been assigned.

“The President has a reason for reshuffling the ministers and assigning Catherine Afeku to the Office of the Senior Minister. Maybe she exhibited some characters which demonstrates that she can perform at where she has been assigned now,” he said.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo, yesterday made changes to his government.

Catherine Afeku, Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira constituency and Minister for Tourism , Culture and Creative Arts is now Minister of State at the Office of the President assigned to the Senior Minister.
