Assembly Members urged to lead crusade against corruption

The Gyaashene of New Juaben Traditional Council, Nana Twumasi Dankwah has urged new assembly members to conduct their lives very well and be agents of the fight against corruption to enhance effective transformation in the country.
Speaking at Koforidua in the Eastern during  the swearing -in ceremony of the newly elected assembly members and Unit committee members to oversee the activities of the New Juaben South Municipality for the next four years, the Gyaasehene lamented that, corruption has been affecting development in the country and therefore called on them to  help curb the canker.
However, a member of the council of State,Joseph Boakye Dankwa who conducted the swearing ceremony on behalf of the President cautioned assembly members to put interest of the Municipality above their political affiliations.
He added that  environmental degradation has been one of the major challenges. confronting most assemblies and therefore urged them to use the by- laws to tackle the problem.
the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency who doubles as the Chairman of the Finance Committee in Parliament, Dr.Mark Asigbey Yeboah congratulated the assembly members. He said the assembly can only function  through  enough revenue.
He, therefore, tasked Ghanaian citizens to be law abiding by paying necessary taxes to enhance effective development in the country.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac  Appaw, advised them to Unite as one people to help work together as a team.
The ceremony saw the inauguration of 170 Unit Committee members and 34 assembly members.
The swearing -in was led by Her Honor, Mercy Adei Kotei, a judge at the Koforidua circuit court B.
Assembly members also elected a new Presiding officer to steer the affairs of the assembly.
