Ashaiman: Man beheads Grandma, buries body

An unemployed man is in the grips of the Ashaiman Police for beheading his Grandmother and burying the body at the back of his house.

The incident happened at Atadeka, a suburb of the Ashaiman Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.

Atinka FM reporter, Edward Serbie, narrated that residents of Atadeka reported the issue to Police after a foul smell started emerging from the house where the Grandma and the grandson whose identity is yet to be made known had lived for years.

The murdered old woman, residents said, had gone missing for about a month now; several efforts to trace her whereabouts had proven futile.

The grandson, during this period, travelled to his hometown in Niger and had failed to return to help with the search.

Residents became suspicious after an unpleasant smell began to emerge from the backyard of the missing woman.

The residents therefore went to the Ashaiman Police to report the issue and demand that the body be exhumed.

It was when the residents arrived at the Police station that they were told that the suspect was already in the grips of the law for theft.

When confronted, the suspected admitted that he indeed beheaded the grandma for reasons he’s yet to tell the Police.

The Police have since gone to court to get an order to go and exhume the body.
