Akufo-Addo sympathises with family of collapsed church victims

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sent messages of condolence to victims of the collapsed Church in Akyim Batabi in the Eastern Region.

Over 17 people reportedly perished following the collapse of The Church of Prosperity building in Akyem Batabi in the Eastern Region.

The over 60 persons who were trapped in the uncompleted church building were worshipping after breaking a 3-day fast meant to support the leader of the Church, ‘Nakoa Isaac’.

The 24-year-old uncompleted building collapsed on Tuesday.

Reacting to the incident in a tweet, President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed his condolence to the families of persons who lost their lives as a result of the tragic accident.

“On behalf of Government and the people of Ghana, I send my deepest condolences to the families of the 15 persons who lost their lives tragically in the church building that collapsed at Akim Batabi near Oda. I wish the 8 injured persons a speedy recovery,” Akufo-Addo said in a tweet.

The District Chief of Executive of Akyem Manso Akroso, Alex Inkoom, has assured the general public that the operation to rescue all trapped persons from the collapsed building continues unabated.

The injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Akim Oda Government Hospital, where as the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue.
