Akufo-Addo names ministers for newly created regions

 

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has made appointments to the six newly created regions and ministerial changes to four other existing regions.

The appointees include Dr Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson, currently the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Sunyani Municipal Assembly, who has been appointed Minister- Designate for Bono Region.

Hon. Siaka Stevens, Member of Parliament (MP) for Jaman North Constituency is the Deputy Minister-Designate for the Bono Region.

Mr Kofi Amankohene, the MP for Atebubu/Amantin Constituency is the Minister-designate for Bono East Region, while Mr Martin Oti Gyarko, MP for Techiman North Constituency and Former Deputy Minister of Brong Ahafo Region is the Deputy Minister for Bono East Region.

Mr Evans Opoku Bobie, MP for Asunafo North Constituency has also been named as the Minister-designate for the Ahafo Region, with Mr Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere, MP for Tano South Constituency being the Deputy Minister-Designate for Ahafo Region.

Meanwhile, Mr Salifu Adam Braimah, MP for Salaga South, is the Minister-designate for Savannah Region, with Mr Samuel Yeyu Tika, Fomer Parliamentary Candidate for Mankarigu Daboya Constituency being the Deputy Minister-designate for the Savannah Region.

For the North East Region, the MP for Bunkpurugu Constituency, and Former Deputy Minister for the Northern Region, Mr Solomon Namliit Boar, has been named as the Minister-designate, while an educationist from Gambaga, Mr Tahiru Tia Ahmed is the Deputy Minister-designate for the North East Region.

Mr John Benam, Former MP for Zabzugu Constituency, is the Deputy Minister-designate for the Northern Region, while Mr Salifu Saeed remains Minister for the Northern Region.

On the other hand, Mr Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, Former Deputy Minister for Health is the Minister-designate for the Western North Region, while Mr Alex Tetteh, MP for Sefwi Akontombra Constituency is the Deputy Minister Designate for Western North Region.

Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, MP for Takoradi Constituency  and Former Minister of Aviation, has been named Minister-designate for Western Region with Ms Eugenia Gifty Kusi remaining the Deputy Minister for the Western Region.

Mr Johnson Avuletey is the Deputy Minister-designate for Volta Region while Dr Achibald L Etsa remains the Minister for Volta Region.
Mr Kwasi Owusu Yeboah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Togolese Republic, However, is the Minister-designate for the Oti Region, while Maxwel Blagodzi, the Former Deputy Minister for Volta Region, is the Deputy Minister for the Oti Region.

In a release signed by the Director of Communications at the Jubilee House, the President is hopeful that parliament will expedite the vetting of the regional minsters-designate and regional deputy to enable them assume their respective offices promptly, in order to begin and accelerate the establishment of the new regions.
