Akufo-Addo grants Deputy IGP one- year contract

President Nana Akufo-Addo has granted a one-year contract to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police (COP) James Oppong Boanuh.

COP Oppong Boanuh, who was appointed a month ago,  turned  60  on Monday (October 8, 2018).

His appointment was characterized by some controversies as critics suggested that he did not deserve the position because he was due for retirement.

Indeed, some critics claimed that his appointment was a ploy to get him appointed as IGP when David Asante- Apeatu retires on August 14, 2019.

A letter signed by the Executive Secretary to the president, Nana Asante Bediatuo, confirmed the fears of critics when it (letter) indicated that COP Oppong Boanuh has been given a one -year contract.
