ACP Agordzo granted bail

Senior Police Officer, ACP Dr Benjamin Agordzo has been granted a self recognizance bail to the tune of GHC500,000.
The Criminal Court 2 of the High Court presided over by Justice Charles Ekow Baiden  ordered for his passport to be deposited at the court registry and also ordered him to report to the IGP twice every week.
ACP Agordzo was charged with abetment to commit treason.
He was accused of communicating with the alleged coup plotters who the government said had been cooking an elaborate plan to destabilise the country.
At the BNI offices, ACP Agordzo was confronted with the messages from a group platform on WhatsApp in which he had allegedly advised members who were planning a demonstration to seek police permit.
Meanwhile, ACP Agordzo described the charge leveled against him as frivolous.

Bail dismissal

Lawyers for ACP Agordzo requested that his client should be granted bail because he was not officially charged with the offence of coup plotting despite the charge against him at the Kaneshie District Court, but the court dismissed the bail application.

However, after going back and forth in court, ACP Agordzo  was on Tuesday granted bail.
