Abuse of sirens: Police, DVLA to prosecute offenders

The Ghana Police and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) are teaming up to arrest and punish motorists who abuse the use of sirens.

The two bodies issued the warning at a Stakeholders’ Meeting in Accra Tuesday.

The Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apietu, cautioned unauthorized vehicles not to use sirens since the law will catch up with them soon. According to him,  the  abuse of sirens is against the Road and Traffic Regulations Act.

The IGP said the move aims at curbing nuisance and indiscipline on our roads and therefore called on all those involved to desist from the unlawful act.

Chief Executive Officer of DVLA, Kwasi Agyeman Busia gave the assurance that his outfit will cooperate with the police to deal with the situation.
