The Minority painted the gloomy picture at a roundtable discussion on Monday ahead of Wednesday’s budget presentation by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta
Cassiel Ato Forson, Former Deputy Finance Minister said there would be severe austerity in 2018, which will make the creation of jobs difficult
“Can you create jobs under severe austerity under fiscal consolidation? The budget deficit in IMF’s article four is projected to be 3.8%, so ladies and gentlemen, next year, let us be assured that there is going to be ‘ahutsere’ – severe austerity equivalent to 1983; you should expect that,”
Ken Ofori-Atta presents the 2018 budget, dubbed, “Adwuma” budget (Budget for jobs) on Wednesday.
