Teacher absenteeism now below 9 % - Mahama

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama has attributed the improvement in West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to the drop in teacher absenteeism.

He said teacher absenteeism has dropped from 27% to 9 % under his administration.

Addressing the nation at his last State of the Nation Address, President Mahama mentioned that teacher absenteeism which was rampant became a thing of the past during his tenure.

According to the president, the drop in teacher absenteeism especially in the rural areas has seen an improvement in the WASSCE adding that schools in these areas are outperforming most schools in the urban areas.

President Mahama reiterated that WASSCE has in general seen a remarkable improvement in the history of the examination.
